MPower Program

Controlling summer peak electric demand and avoiding costly generation growth are important to KCP&L.  So important, in fact, that you can be paid significant $$$ to help with the cause!  With MPower, KCP&L will pay you to reduce your electric use a few times a year to help manage peak summer demand, keep prices down and defer the need to build additional generating capacity.

KCP&L has contracted with Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. (ECS), the largest private full service demand response provider in the United States, to bring additional participants to the MPower program.  The payments for your participation in this program are substantial, demonstrating KCP&L's commitment to work with customers to manage energy use and energy prices.

Prior to MPower, these types of programs were generally limited to the largest of facilities.  Now, any facility that can reduce a minimum of 25 kW can be in the program and earn payments.  This means that schools, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, manufacturing and industrial facilities, commercial properties, and others can participate and get paid for how they use their electricity.
