Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc (ECS), one of the largest demand response service providers in North America, today announced it was named a finalist in TechInsight's EE Times fifth Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards as ‘Best Enabler for Green Engineering.’

The ECS

PowerPay suite of demand response programs provides risk free financial incentives to facilities able to reduce electricity consumption on an ‘on-call’ basis. Aside from the inherent value in developing sound energy management habits these load management programs provide crucial grid stability during periods of high electricity demand creating an alternative to expensive capital investment in ‘part-time’ fossil fueled peaking generation or the use of other environmentally unfriendly generation options. Virtually a carbon free alternative, demand response can also serve as a back-up to intermittent renewable power sources further enabling their inclusion in the supply chain.

"It is truly an honor for ECS to be chosen as a finalist in the ‘Best Enabler for Green Engineering,’ category said Paul Tyno, ECS’ Executive Vice President for Program Development. "We have always emphasized collaborative relationships with clients developing market specific demand response solutions that deliver successful electricity load reduction portfolios while employing real world technologies to effectively manage power consumption.

Utilizing an advanced, scalable metering infrastructure which can provide real time data collection with on demand report functionality and remote connectivity ECS

PowerOutlook is a functional, cost effective open platform. The system positions clients to analyze load profiles, identify conservation opportunities, quantify the cost or behavioral change and validate the ROI.

The award as "Best Enabler for Green Engineering" is new to the ACE Awards for 2009, part of a class of ‘Renewable Energy Awards’ created to recognize companies embracing and empowering forward momentum to sustainable energy use and increased energy efficiency developing practical applications with measurable results.

"This year’s ACE Awards finalists mark a shift in the industry, as the electronics industry becomes more focused on creating technologies attractive to consumers – from educational toys, to microphones, cell phones and light sensors," said Junko Yoshida, editor in chief,

EE Times. "The 2009 finalists represent the execution of forward-thinking technologies and creativity that

captures the imagination of consumers, illustrating the influence that electronics and embedded design professionals have on today’s culture."

The EE Times Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards celebrate the creators of technology who demonstrate leadership and innovation in the global industry and shape the world we live in. These creators, and their innovations, will be recognized at the EE Times ACE Awards Presentation on March 31, 2009, as part of TechInsight’s Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley, the largest electronic systems design event in North America.
